*** What is this thing?

Well, this is a simple mutator to start the recording of a server demo. Of course
this can be done by login in as admin and typing: admin demorec <filename>
but if you don't want to or can't login you can start the recording by typing:
mutate DoDemoRec <Password> [<FileNamePrefix>]
if you use this mutator. It automatically appends the name of the Map and the
current date and time to the name, creating also a valid name if you don't give any
prefix. To stop the demo you can type:
mutate DoStopDemo <Password>
This mutator may also be of use to you, if you want to give your clan mates the
possibility to record demos, but don't want to or can't give them the administrator
password.
The starting and stopping of the recording is not announced publicly only to the
play who triggered the action. But you can use bindings link this:
<key>=mutate DoDemoRec <Password> | OnRelease say Recording Server-Demo!
<key>=mutate DoStopDemo <Password> | OnRelease say Stopping Server-Demo!



*** How to install it?

There are two ways to install this mutator. You can add it as an mutator, then
you have to do each time and it can be lost. The other option is to add a
ServerActor, that will add it automatically to each map. But then it can't be
disabled, but you can clear the Password to forbid anything.

To install it, you have to copy the two other files DemoRecRemote.u and
DemoRecRemote.int into your UT-System-directory.
If you want to use it as a mutator, you have nothing else to do than configure
it, and of course add it as a mutator.
If you want to add it as a ServerActor you have to add a line to your ut.ini
or UnrealTournament.ini or however the System-ini-file of your server is
called. Then you need to restart the server. If you use this approach you shouldn't
copy the DemoRecRemote.int file to you System directory. This way it isn't announced
as mutator when queriing the server giving an additional bit of security on top of
the password.

To add it as an ServerActor find the line saying:
[Engine.GameEngine]
in that section of the ini-file you'll find severals ServerActors=-lines, you
just have to add another one just under them:
ServerActors=DemoRecRemote.DemoRecRemoteServerActor





*** How to configure it?

To configure the mutator stay where you are, in the ini-file, if you have just
installed the ServerActor, if you want not use it, you have also to go into
the file. Then go to the end of the file and add the following two lines,
replacing <password> by the password of your choice:

[DemoRecRemote.DemoRecRemoteMutator]
Password=<password>

This is optional, but in any other case, you have to set your values each time
you restart the server (or it is restarted). To set your values by hand you
can login as admin to your server and type thise lines, of course again with
<password> replaced by the password of your choice:

admin set DemoRecRemote.DemoRecRemoteMutator Password <password>







There are sometimes some rumors that the *nix version of the UT server can't
record demos. This is not true. Just at least one game server provider had
ut.ini-files where the necessary entries for recording were deleted. Just insert
the settings from your ini files, that should correct the problem.
